Minutes
of the Willo-Esque Homeowners Association Board of Directors meeting held
Tuesday, October 21, 2003
Roger
Sackreiter called the meeting to order at the Willo-Esque apartment complex
clubhouse at 7:03 p.m. Two board
members, three area residents and two guests were present.
GUESTS – Eric Hiser and Byron Chrisler of the Ashley Park Homeowners Association
gave a presentation on the commercial development plans for the property on
Maple Street across the street south of Ashley Park. Those plans include a 128,000 square foot (275’ x 475’) Target
store, several restaurants, and other businesses. The matter will come before the city’s District Advisory Board at
their meeting on November 3, 2003 at Auburn Hills, 443 S. 135th St.
West.
MINUTES – After review
of the minutes of the May 13, 2003 HOA meeting, Tammy Moore moved to approve
the minutes as printed. Roger seconded
the motion and it passed without opposition.
OLD BUSINESS – Roger said that five area homeowners
are still delinquent with their dues.
He homeowners association has now hired a new lawyer whom it is hoped
will be more aggressive in pursuing delinquent homeowners.
The wooden fence
has been taken down at the southwest corner of the wheat field and it will be
replaced with one of concrete.
Inferior
materials were used in the remodeling of the bathrooms at the swimming pool and
the job needs to be completely redone.
The contractor, Minihan’s Construction, sent a letter saying they would
be out the first week in September but then did not do so. Now, they are not returning Roger’s phone
calls so the matter will be turned over to the HOA’s new attorney.
FINANCIAL REPORT – After some discussion about the
increase in insurance costs for the area, Bob Lawrence volunteered to get some
information from the Breezy Point HOA for comparison. Roger then moved to approve the financial report as presented. Tammy seconded the motion and it was
approved without opposition.
SOCIAL COMMITTEE – Roger said the next area social event will be a hot
dog roast at the pool complex before the kids go out trick-or-treating between
4:45 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. on October 31st.
Santa Claus will make his annual appearance to visit with
the children of Willo-Esque at the Maple Ridge Apartment complex meeting room
on December 18th.
AREA SECURITY -
Roger proposed installing electronic keys and security cameras at the pool and
tennis courts and new lighting in the common areas over the next several
years. No action was taken.
COMMON
GROUNDS – Roger said sprinkler systems will be winterized after
Halloween. An area resident has also
volunteered to replace the basketball backboard and rim in Fourth Addition.
MOWING STATUS – Roger said
the mowers are to be tuned up over the winter.

next year to repair the cracked sidewalks in the area.
POOL
COMPLEX STATUS – Roger announced plans to set aside money in the 2004
budget to replace 50’ of wooden fence north of the pool house with concrete
fencing. An A-frame roof could be
installed over the concrete fencing for additional enclosed storage. The existing siding and trim on the pool
building is also to be replaced.
PLAYGROUND STATUS – Roger said that
volunteers are being sought to paint the playground equipment by the double
tennis courts.
