I. Keep your garage door
closed. This presents a neat appearance in the area and deters prowlers.
2. Keep your cars in the garage
overnight and not in the street. Allow no trucks to be parked overnight in the
street or in your driveway.
3. Keep
your lawn and shrubbery well-trimmed. Lawn cuttings and other trimmings should
be in suitable packages and placed curbside for weekly trash pickup. Dumping on
public property is prohibited and creates a nuisance.
4. Keep your house painted and in
good repair at all times. Maintain the sidewalks and curbs in front of your home.
5. Do
not allow debris to collect in your yard and do not leave tools, equipment and
hoses outside.
6. Before making any changes in
your property, (additions, fences, satellite dishes, roofs, etc.) obtain
required approval through your homeowners association and/or city hall.

7. Exterior lighting should not be
directed toward neighbor’s homes in a way that creates an annoyance.
8. Trash containers should not be
left in a visible area except on trash collection days.
9. Walk your dog on a leash rather
than letting it roam free. Keep your dog from fouling your neighbor’s lawns,
and from barking for extended periods.
10. Cats can also create a nuisance by killing
songbirds and littering children’s sandboxes or garden plots. Don’t allow
them to roam unattended.
11. Report suspicious individuals, vehicles, and
activities to the police. Alert neighbors are everyone’s best defense against
crime.
12. Offer
to pick up newspapers and watch neighbors’ homes while they’re out of town.
